A mustard container turns into a bud vase!

A few weeks ago I discovered this fun blog and found some really cute ideas. All I needed was a empty glass container and I was in business! I had nothing that I could use at home so I forgot about the idea. When I was in San Diego I was making dinner at Courtney's house and we used all the mustard in this perfect little glass jar! I used some scraps of a fabric that I love. I can't remember the fabric name but here are a few reason why I love it. It's green, has skulls, and ladybugs! I also found this really pretty flower outside of my deck. It's amazing that plants are still growing in this cold!

Pincushion!

Last night I went to Borders and bought a book on basic sewing techniques and patterns. I found a really helpful and cool book callled, "Sew Everything Workshop" By Diana Rupp. This book is put together very well. Colorful, easy to follow and wirebound it was a good purchase! I decided to make the simplest project in the book for my first project. I made a pincushion for my needles to store next to my sewing machine. It took me about 15 minutes and I could make so many more!

Reuse!

When ever possible I bring my own reusable bags to the market and always carry a extra bag in my purse. Sometimes I find myself stopping at the market for that one item for dinner and I don't have my stash of bags, so I carry one in my purse. I found this great tutorial by Beth on SewMamaSew. This tutorial was wonderful, easy to follow, I have been sewing for most of my life but recently in the last two years really dove into, and her instructions were so easy! This is the first one I made but I think it turned out great. I still need to work on sewing in a straight line! This bag is a great way to keep myself from using plastic bags once. Thanks!
